WTMD/Baltimore’s Music Madness Fund Drive Sets New Membership Records

TOWSON UNIVERSITY Triple WTMD/BALTIMORE recently concluded its fifth annual MUSIC MADNESS SPRING FUND DRIVE by setting a record of nearly 1,000 new members.   

Based on the March Madness college basketball tournament bracket system, 64 bands and artists were matched up, and listener votes determined which acts advanced to the next round.  The winner this year was DAVID BOWIE.

“Since 2012, our listeners have responded to MUSIC MADNESS in ever increasing numbers,” said WTMD PD and Interim GM SCOTT MULLINS. “This year we focused on increasing the number of new members, and the effort really paid off with nearly 1,000 new members making their first pledge to WTMD. That's double the number of new members for a normal drive.”  

The amount of money raised was also up this drive according WTMD Membership Dir. KRISTIN BACHRAN, who said, “Because of WTMD’s successful sustainer program, the total money raised in our two major fund drives has been lower in recent years. We’re happy to report that in this drive, we not only reached what we had been used to before the sustainer program, but exceeded it by about 18%.”
