ALL ACCESS has a bit of frost bite around the ear after keeping it to the ground in ANCHORAGE, AK (NET NEWS 3/16), but it has been confirmed that 'OHANA MEDIA GROUP Country KXLW/ANCHORAGE is rebranding from THE WOLF to THE MOOSE, effective TODAY (3/18) at 3p (CT).
"THE WOLF has decided to retire and pursue a career as a sled dog," 'OHANA MEDIA GROUP/ANCHORAGE VP/GM TOM OAKES explained. "THE WOLF's formal retirement occurred at 12p (AKDT) when THE WOLF turned over the 96.3 FM frequency to his friend THE MOOSE, known on the air as THE MOOSE 96-3."
THE MOOSE features an extensive library of Country titles from the 90s and early 2000s as well as Classic Country hits from the 70s and 80s. Stream the station here.
ALL ACCESS was able to get a comment from THE WOLF on his retirement, who told us, "Since 2008, I've been proud to play various mixes of Country music, but in all this time, I've watched those dogs take off every year racing to NOME in the IDITAROD and have been wishing I could do it too! It's been an itch that just needed to be scratched. So I'm heading out to begin training so one day I might be able to race in the OPEN NORTH AMERICAN, the YUKON QUEST, and hopefully the IDITAROD...the great and legendary sled dog races in ALASKA."
