ROB FORD, the TORONTO politician whose travails while Mayor of the city made him an international news figure, died TODAY (3/22) after a battle with cancer (pleomorphic liposarcoma). He was 46.
FORD, Mayor of TORONTO in 2010-14 and a City Councilor from Ward 2 of ETOBICOKE NORTH before and after his tenure as Mayor, hosted a weekly radio show, "THE CITY," with his brother, City Councilor DOUG FORD, on BELL MEDIA (formerly ASTRAL MEDIA) News-Talk CFRB-A/TORONTO in 2012-13. His political career included several scandals and drug incidents, including a video depicting him smoking crack, which he admitted to doing after initial denials, and, ultimately, the stripping of his mayoral powers by the Council. Nevertheless, he was popular with a large portion of TORONTO voters, winning a Council seat even after the scandals drove him from the Mayor's office.
