ACM Announces Special Awards, Studio Recording Awards, Songwriter Of The Year

The ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC (ACM) announced winners of the ACM AWARDS in the Special Awards, Studio Recording Awards, and Songwriter Of The Year categories TODAY (3/29). These winners will be celebrated during the "10TH ANNUAL ACM HONORS" at the RYMAN AUDITORIUM in NASHVILLE later this YEAR (NET NEWS 2/23).
The ACM LIFTING LIVES GARY HABER Award will be presented to ARISTA NASHVILLE artist CARRIE UNDERWOOD. The Award was created by the ACM LIFTING LIVES Board Of Directors and is given in recognition of a Country artist or industry professional who is committed to serving others, has a generosity of spirit, and shows a dedication to helping those in need.
The Career Achievement Award will be given to GLEN CAMPBELL. The Award honors artists who have advanced the popularity and acceptance of Country music through their endeavors in the entertainment industry in multiple areas during the preceding calendar year. Past recipients include VINCE GILL, TIM MCGRAW, REBA, and more.
The CLIFFIE STONE Pioneer Award will be bestowed upon CRYSTAL GAYLE, TANYA TUCKER, and THE STATLER BROTHERS. This honor is presented to individuals who are pioneers in the Country music genre. Past recipients include ALABAMA, GARTH BROOKS, JOHNNY CASH, LORETTA LYNN, DOLLY PARTON, KENNY ROGERS, and many more.
The Crystal Milestone Award will be presented to CAPITOL NASHVILLE group LITTLE BIG TOWN and is given to an artist or industry leader to commemorate a specific, remarkable achievement. LBT earns the Award this YEAR on the heels of their single, "Girl Crush," as it became the most downloaded song of 2015 despite some initial controversy and confusion over the subject matter.
The JIM REEVES International Award will be posthumously awarded to JEFF WALKER. This honor is presented to an artist or industry leader for outstanding contributions to the acceptance of Country music throughout the world. Past winners include DICK CLARK, ERIC CHURCH, MERV GRIFFIN, TAYLOR SWIFT, and others.
The MAE BOREN AXTON Award will be given to CAPITOL NASHVILLE artist KEITH URBAN. The award is given to an outstanding individual recognizing years of dedication and service to the ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC.
The Poet's Award will be given to JIMMY WEBB and posthumously to EDDIE RABBIT. This honor is awarded to songwriters for outstanding musical and/or lyrical contributions throughout their careers in the field of Country music.
The TEX RITTER Award will honor "DOLLY PARTON's Coat Of Many Colors" and is given to recognize a movie released receiving significant exposure that featured or utilized Country music, during the preceding calendar year. PARTON will be presented with this award during the live broadcast of the "51ST ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS" telecast this SUNDAY, APRIL 3rd.
Studio Recording Award and Songwriter Of The Year winners were also announced and will be honored during the "10TH ANNUAL ACM HONORS" later this YEAR. The winners are as follows:
