A NIELSEN analysis of FEBRUARY PPM numbers and EXPERIAN Political Voting Behavior data shows that the News-Talk format was the top radio format for six of the 10 "engaged voter" segments.
The study of listening and voting behavior of over 70,000 panelists, aged 18 and older, in 45 major U.S. markets showed News-Talk topping preference rankers for Super Democrats, Conservative Democrats, On-the-Fence Liberals, Green Traditional, Mild Republicans and Ultra Conservatives. Exceptions were the Unconnected and Unregistered and the Uninvolved Republicans categories (Top 40), Left Out Democrats (Urban AC), and Informed but Unregistered (Country).
In addition, the study said that almost nine out of 10 News-Talk listeners are "highly engaged, registered voters, with most identifying as Mild Republicans or Super Democrats." 28% are independent or unregistered.
