COMPUTRAFFIC, INC. Sports KRAP-A/WASHINGTON, MO has launched a fundraising campaign to raise the money to buy an FM translator and simulcast on it.
At giveakrap.com, the station, noting that it is "not a spoof site," says that it wants to buy an "FM signal to add to our KRAP(py) AM signal" and adds, "Remember, we’re on AM. And who listens to AM anymore? Well, maybe us radio nerds, but that’s about it." It estimates that it needs $50,000 to obtain a translator and equipment and file for the transfer, but that "Yes, we’ve been to the banks. A bunch of banks. And we’ve heard a bunch of “NOs”. So that’s why we’re asking you to Give a KRAP!"
The campaign is concentrating on selling ad packages more than straight donations, offering four ad packages ranging from $1,999 to $699, but includes a page saying that the station is "not really looking for investors, but we will entertain private debt. We guarantee you’ll make more interest from us than you will from your local banker!"
