On THURSDAY, MARCH 17th (NET NEWS 3/17), ALL ACCESS reported that NIELSEN was launching NIELSEN DIGITAL AUDIO RATINGS to measure over-the-air radio listening across mobile apps and web players, regardless of ad model and device -- smartphones, tablets, and computers. The service was set to provide the industry with the ability to assess the value of digital inventory and clarify return on digital investments, while aligning with established broadcast and digital currencies. Now, ALL ACCESS has learned that the rollout will be delayed by at least two months.
A NIELSEN spokesperson told told ALL ACCESS, "To accommodate client requests for additional time to review and get comfortable with the NIELSEN DIGITAL AUDIO RATINGS Data, we are extending the pre-currency preview period by two months to include the APRIL and MAY survey periods. We anticipate NIELSEN DIGITAL AUDIO RATINGS will go live in TAPSCAN with the JUNE survey period (data available in mid-JULY). Clients who are already receiving pre-currency preview data will continue to receive those reports, allowing them to analyze their own performance but not in comparison to other stations. We will continue to work with our clients to provide them with additional information as it becomes available."
