Reacting to the KANSAS CITY CHIEFS' drafting of TYREEK HILL, who pleaded guilty to domestic violence charges last year, ENTERCOM Sports KCSP-A (610 SPORTS)/KANSAS CITY "THE DRIVE WITH DANNY AND CDOT" hosts DANNY PARKINS and CARRINGTON HARRISON launched a fundraiser for a local domestic violence shelter.
PARKINS and HARRISON have raised over $12,000 as of THURSDAY morning for the ROSE BROOKS CENTER in KANSAS CITY via a GOFUNDME page. The total thus far is over twice the initial $5,000 goal.
On the fundraising page, the hosts said, "Unfortunately the CHIEFS drafted TYREEK HILL. There's nothing any of us can do about that. Here at THE DRIVE we want to do more than just complain about his selection. Domestic violence is a societal problem that goes far beyond professional football. Fortunately, we can help. THE ROSE BROOKS CENTER right here in KANSAS CITY is a non-profit organization that provides over 57,000 safe nights a year to local women and children seeking to escape life threatening abuse. Let's show the CHIEFS, and the rest of the country, that Kansas Citians are about more than empty words. Lets make a tangible difference in the community by doing something to help domestic violence victims."
