COURTNEY LOVE will star along with JOEY KING in "The Possibility Of Fireflies," adapted from her own novel by DOMINIQUE PAUL. Two of CANADA's leading musicians, CHANTEL KREVIAZUK and husband RAINE MAIDA will produce the film and the soundtrack with GRAMMY-nominated EDM artist BT, who will compose the original score. The announcement was made at the CANNES FILM FESTIVAL.
The film is a coming-of-age story that takes place during the summer of 1989 in suburban MARYLAND as Ellie Roma (KING) — a precocious teenager with dreams of becoming a writer — must cope with her chaotic, self destructive mother Susanna (LOVE) and a volatile metal-head sister, Gwen. When Ellie falls in love with her older neighbor, aspiring singer Leo, she finds herself caught in the alluring undertow of a reckless rock n’ roll freedom, and must make a decision that will change her life for ever.
“We’re so thrilled to secure such an incredibly talented duo in JOEY KING and COURTNEY LOVE to lead this cast,” commented director DEBORAH CHOW. “JOEY has proven herself to be one of the most talented young actresses working today, and as an iconic rock musician, who is also a versatile and fearless actress, COURTNEY is the perfect fit for this music-infused story,”
The film will sport an '80s-themed soundtrack.
Commented MAIDA: “We have a unique opportunity to produce a soundtrack that will touch three generations of music fans by executing unique collaborations between key '80s artists and the top emerging artists of today,”
