Award Winning Singer-Songwriter Guy Clark Has Died

GRAMMY AWARD winning singer-songwriter GUY CLARK passed away TODAY (5/17) after a prolonged illness. He was 74.

Known for his own chart success with over a dozen studio albums released between 1975 and 2013 as well as for penning hits for artists that include JOHNNY CASH, EMMYLOU HARRIS, JIMMY BUFFETT, LYLE LOVETT, RICKY SKAGGS, STEVE WARINER, BOBBY BARE, THE HIGHWAYMEN, and RODNEY CROWELL, CLARK was a member of the NASHVILLE SONGWRITERS HALL OF FAME and has previously been honored with the ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC (ACM) Poet's Award. Some of CLARK's hits include "Desperados Waiting For A Train," "L.A. Freeway," "That Old Time Feeling," "She Ain't Going Nowhere," "Let Him Roll," "Rita Ballou," "TEXAS 1947," and "Heartbroke."

CLARK was preceded in death by his wife, SUSANNA, who passed away from complications of lung cancer in 2012 (NET NEWS 6/29/2012). CLARK stopped touring and recording shortly after SUSANNA's death due to ongoing health problems of his own. Funeral arrangements are pending.
