While the "SAVE KPLU" campaign nears its goal of raising $7 million to make an offer to buy noncommercial Jazz-News-Talk KPLU/TACOMA-SEATTLE from PACIFIC LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY and block the station's sale to rival UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON News-Talk KUOW/SEATTLE, the SEATTLE TIMES reports that the university has told the "SAVE KPLU" forces to stop using the station's logo in its efforts and to modify the fundraising campaign on the station website to make clear that the donations are to FRIENDS OF 88.5 FM and not to the station itself.
In response, SAVE KPLU has changed its logo and has moved its fundraising efforts to its own site, SaveKPLU.org. The group aims to raise the $7 million by JUNE 30th and has already exceeded the $6 million mark.
