NJ 101.5 Host's Protest Causes Shutdown Of Pol's Office

MILLENNIUM Talk WKXW-WXKW (NEW JERSEY 101.5)/TRENTON-ATLANTIC CITY midday co-host DENNIS MALLOY's railing against a proposed ban on trans-fats in NEW JERSEY restaurants had State Sen. ELLEN KARCHER (D-MONMOUTH COUNTY) fielding a wave of protest calls on FRIDAY.

KARCHER appeared on morning host JIM GEARHART's show that morning to discuss her proposal, and MALLOY followed with his denunciation of the measure. After he told callers to contact KARCHER (but not resort to threats or violence), her staff fielded calls that included some threats, including one threatening to throw KARCHER off a roof. The STATE POLICE were called, and the office was closed early on FRIDAY.
