Viacom Independent Directors Say Sumner Redstone's Trying To Oust Them

REUTERS is reporting that the six independent directors of VIACOM are planning to fight their ouster in the turmoil surrounding the SUMNER REDSTONE situation. In a letter to shareholders, Lead Independent Director FRED SALERNO said that REDSTONE is trying to remove the independent directors and suggested that REDSTONE is not acting of his own free will or mental competency.

REDSTONE has indicated through a spokesman that he may oust VIACOM Chairman/CEO PHILIPPE DAUMAN and already has removed DAUMAN and board member GEORGE ABRAMS from his personal trust, prompting DAUMAN and ABRAMS to sue.
