Nearly one month after going dark (see NET NEWS 8/31), legendary Alternative WOXY.COM has resumed streaming thanks to a new partnership with BILL NGUYEN, co-founder of CD-trading service LALA.COM.
This morning (10/10) at 10:10a, WOXY.COM returned with MC5's "Kick Out The Jams," THE HOLD STEADY's "How A Resurrection Really Feels" and THE AFGHAN WHIGS' "Rebirth Of The Cool" under GM BRYAN JAY MILLER, PD MIKE TAYLOR, and MD MATT SHIV. TAYLOR is now on-air 9a-3p, and SHIV expands from 3-9p.
The partnership will allow WOXY.COM listeners to program their own set of favorite songs called "CITIZEN RADIO" on LALA.COM. With LALA's help, WOXY.COM also plans on extending its "LOUNGE ACTS" series of live sessions by erecting additional studios in cities across the country. The first studio will go up in SAN FRANCISCO in the near future.
As for LALA's part, WOXY.COM GM BRYAN JAY MILLER told PITCHFORK, "I think you're going to begin to see the sites intermingle a little bit. You're going to be able to add CDs -- basically when you see song listings and album listings on the WOXY site, you'll eventually be able to add those to your LALA 'Want' and 'Have' lists."
