RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS RADIO will launch on SIRIUSXM this WEDNESDAY (JUNE 15th) to mark the band' new studio album, "The Getaway." Major RCHP fan CHRIS ROCK will host the limited-run channel, which will feature music spanning the band's entire career. The new album is scheduled to be released on JUNE 17th. The channel will also include commentary from the band on writing, recording and performing live, and will air songs by influential artists hand-picked from the band's personal music collection, including artists such as JIMI HENDRIX, FUNKADELIC, MINUTEMEN, as well as '90s alternative and grunge.
ROCK, who inducted the band into the ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME as part of the class of 2012, will introduce music and share personal stories about their nearly 20-year friendship.
"It's amazing they have the hunger to make new music, and amazing I still want to hear it," said ROCK.
Commented SIRIUSXM Pres./Chief Content Officer SCOTT GREENSTEIN: "We're excited to join forces with one of rock's most treasured bands to bring subscribers RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS RADIO. With CHRIS ROCK as the channel host -- someone who knows a thing or two about hosting big entertainment events and even more about the CHILI PEPPERS -- fans across NORTH AMERICA will be taken on an exclusive guided tour of the band's iconic career."
The channel will debut WEDNESDAY, JUNE 15th at 3p (ET) and will run through TUESDAY, JUNE 21st on channel 34 and through the SIRIUSXM App on smartphones and other connected devices, as well as at siriusxm.com.
