Former CBC Sr, Dir./Marketing JIM KOZAK is suing the network for failing to stop harassment by his boss as well as wrongful dismissal.
The CANADIAN PRESS reports that KOZAK's suit in ONTARIO Superior Court of Justice says GM/Chief Revenue Officer JEAN MONGEAU harassed and bullied him from late 2014 to his APRIL 2016 firing, citing "speaking in a condescending manner," "unnecessary pressure tactics around work assignments," and "unjustly challenging and 'grilling' KOZAK at one-on-one meetings and deliberately putting him on the defensive" among the alleged offenses.
It also includes the charge that the network has failed to implement the RUBIN REPORT, the independent study by attorney JANICE RUBIN commissioned in the wake of the JIAN GHOMESHI case to analyze management response to harassment allegations and suggest changes in the CBC's handling of such issues. KOZAK, who served as Dir./Sales, OLYMPICS and Sports Partnerships before his promotion to Sr, Dir./Marketing, is asking for C$350,000 damages for wrongful dismissal, C$500,000 for "aggravated or moral" damages, and C$250,000 in punitive damages.
In a statement via e-mail to the CP, CBC spokesperson EMMA BEDARD said, "We vigorously deny the allegations that have been made in the statement of claim. We will be filing our statement of defence in the coming days."
