Super group U2 has eneded its relationship with ISLAND RECORDS in the UK, which stretches back to 1980, when they were discovered by that label. U2 will stay within the UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP and has signed with MERCURY RECORDS in the UK, with label Pres. JASON ILEY, who was the GM at ISLAND until JUNE, 2005.
The compilation CD "U218 Singles," and a charity single, will be released in the UK next month by MERCURY. The change in labels does not affect U2's relationship with INTERSCOPE in the U.S.
