WAY-FM COO LLOYD PARKER says that WAY-FM has just wrapped up a year-long effort to encourage its listeners to participate in local service projects under the banner of LIVE (SERVICE) OUT.
Partnering with community non-profit organizations throughout the year, each WAY-FM station provided opportunities for service. Local WAY-FM staffs worked alongside listeners in projects ranging from painting facilities and feeding homeless people in KENTUCKY at the LOUISVILLE RESCUE MISSION, to serving and ministering to kids with terminal illnesses and their families at a special screening of DISNEY’s THE JUNGLE BOOK through HOPEKIDS NORTH TEXAS in DALLAS/FT WORTH.
In COLORADO’s FRONT RANGE, WAY-FM worked with BE THE GIFT on three separate projects. Dozens of volunteers joined staff members in COLORADO SPRINGS and fixed up the home of a recently widowed mother of two. This included painting and cleaning the house and re-landscaping the exterior of the home.
WAY-FM /TALLAHASSEE partnered with THE FLORIDA BAPTIST CHILDREN’S HOME, where two dozen listeners joined the staff in doing yard work, cleaning and sprucing up the kitchen and setting up game rooms for the kids.
The WAY-FM/NASHVILLE staff recently joined 30 listeners in painting the walls at ALEX GREEN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL in WHITES CREEK, TN. Click here for a quick look at that project.
WAY-FM NETWORK air personalities joined in the efforts. WALLY from THE WALLY SHOW noted, "The opportunity to serve those in need alongside the people who listen to our shows is a privilege. There is no better way to meet someone than when you both have to put down a paint brush to shake hands."
In addition to events like these, WAY-FM committed $150,000 in free announcements for local non-profit organizations in WAY-FM communities throughout the country.
WAY-FM Pres. BOB AUGSBURG stated, "Here at WAY-FM you will find HEBREWS 10:24 references up and down the halls of each of our stations. 'Let us think of ways to motivate one another to do acts of love and good works'. For several years now we have taken this NEW TESTAMENT directive seriously. Each local WAY-FM prayerfully looks for projects to do throughout the year that demonstrate of love of JESUS in real, tangible ways. LIVE (SERVICE) OUT is one example of how our staff and listeners roll up their sleeves together to show the love of Christ."
WAY-FM and WAY MEDIA NETWORK SERVICES reach into nearly 100 communities in 26 states. WAY-FM owns and operates stations in many top 100 markets including DALLAS-FT WORTH, DENVER, PORTLAND, NASHVILLE, WEST PALM BEACH, LOUISVILLE, FT. MYERS and HUNTSVILLE.
