ROUND HILLL MUSIC has entered into an administration deal with Hall of Fame songwriter NEIL SEDAKA.
Commented SEDAKA: "I am so happy to be a part of the ROUND HILL family. With the enthusiasm they are showing over my vast catalog of songs, this promises to be a long and mutually beneficial relationship."
Added ROUND HILL MUSIC President NEIL GILLIS: “NEIL SEDAKA is a national treasure. He is an amazing quadruple-threat of award-winning songwriter, composer, pianist and popular artist. It is with great honor and respect that we are now fortunate enough to work with him and his amazing body of work.”
SEDAKA and his creative partner, HOWIE GREENFIELD, were among the original creators of the “Brill Building” sound in the late '50s and early '60s when they were the first to sign with DON KIRSHNER and AL NEVINS at ALDON MUSIC, which went on to sign NEIL DIAMOND, CAROLE KING and PAUL SIMON, among many others.
SEDAKA catapulted into stardom after CONNIE FRANCIS recorded his "Stupid Cupid" and then, "Where The Boys Are." SEDAKA then signed with RCA as a writer and performer of his own material, releasing such chart-toppers as "The Diary," "Oh! Carol," " Stairway to Heaven," "Calendar Girl," "Little Devil," "Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen," "Next Door To An Angel," and "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do."
SEDAKA continued writing his songs for FRANK SINATRA ("The Hungry Years"), ELVIS PRESLEY ("Solitaire"), TOM JONES ("Puppet Man"), THE MONKEES ("When Love Comes Knocking At Your Door") and THE 5TH DIMENSION ("Workin’ On A Groovy Thing").
SEDAKA has been inducted into the SONGWRITERS HALL OF FAME and was given a star on the HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME.
In addition to his extensive worldwide tour schedule, SEDAKA will be releasing "I Do It For Applause" a CD of 12 new songs this AUGUST. "My main objective is always to top the last collection, raise the bar and reinvent NEIL SEDAKA," he says. NEIL is currently developing a BROADWAY show based on his life.
