NIELSEN’s post-JUNE PPM analysis shows that while SUMMER has been a seasonal boom for Country in recent years, 2016 isn't shaping up that way so far. The format just posted its lowest 6+ shares for JUNE since 2012 (7.7). There’s also a slide among 18-34s, with Country trending 10.6 - 9.4 - 8.8 for JUNE since 2014. In the same period with Country’s traditional 25-54 core, the decline has been 8.4 - 8.1 - 7.6. Meanwhile, Classic Hits and Classic Rock are showing the greatest gains of any format during the past two PPM rating periods. But Country remains the second-most listened to music format behind Top 40; News/Talk is radio’s most heard format.
