SAG-AFTRA and some members of the unionized staff at CUMULUS Sports KNBR-A/SAN FRANCISCO held a rally outside the SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS' AT&T PARK WEDNESDAY, the SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE's SFGATE.COM reports, and the group is protesting for a raise in the minimum wage for on-air talent to $30 an hour and for off-air support staff to $17 an hour.
The staffers joined SAG-AFTRA in 2014; the station and union have been at an impasse over a contract, and SAG-AFTRA SAN FRANCISCO local president LEN EGERT told the paper that the situation "could definitely lead to a work stoppage, and I don’t know if we could continue programming.” And national SAG-AFTRA President GABRIELLE CARTERIS added, "KNBR is a proven revenue generator. It is time for CUMULUS to pay its employees a living wage.”
