THE SPECS HOWARD SCHOOL bids two bittersweet farewells as faculty members JIM BELL and BOB PALMATEER head off to retirement. Both BELL and PALMATEER are SPECS HOWARD SCHOOL graduates having come “home” to SPECS HOWARD after earning their stripes in the industry.
Since 1980, BELL has shared his insights with students at SPECS. He is a former member of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BLACK JOURNALISTS and a long-standing member of the DETROIT radio community.
PALMATEER has been teaching at THE SPECS HOWARD SCHOOL since 1989. After graduating from the school, he worked on the air in various markets, most recently at WWJ (NEWSRADIO 950)/DETROIT.
SPECS HOWARD Pres. MARTY LIEBMAN said, “Here at THE SPECS HOWARD SCHOOL, people may leave the building but they never really leave our family. I look forward to BOB and JIM’s visits and to hearing about their retirement adventures.” He adds that he is grateful for the decades of contributions both of these great broadcasters made to the school, the students and the industry overall.
