TWITTER is now offering its users the chance to apply for verified accounts. Those who do apply will get a blue check next to their name, which lets people know that an account of public interest is authentic.
“This is great news for everyone who should be verified but just has not had the connections to get it done," CUMULUS and WESTWOOD ONE VP/Social and MERGE author LORI LEWIS said. "I can tell you this is what TWITTER has always required from me as I verified CUMULUS stations and talent:
"• 'Official' e-mail address like station name dot com, company name dot com – Twitter typically will not allow Gmail, yahoo, etc.-type e-mails connected to verified accounts due to easier hacking.
• You must have a couple of urls floating on the Internet so when TWITTER searches you, you are who you say you are.
• Bio must be filled out, explaining who you are.
• Station or show url must be in bio section or weblink area
• Profile and cover photo must be present."Good luck! Being verified helps connect with other verified accounts that can help your station interact with artists and other notable celebrities.”
