W.L. "PETE" NININGER, President of the BRISTOL BROADCASTING COMPANY, passed away on WEDNESDAY night (10/11) after a brief illness. He was 81. In the JOHNSON CITY/KINGSPORT market, BRISTOL BROADCASTING owns WXBQ, WFHG, WNPC and WNPC-A. It also owns stations in PADUCAH, KY and CHARLESTON, WV.
NININGER began his broadcasting career at an AM station in BRISTOL in the 1950s. He continued to be involved in the day-to-day operations of the company up until his death. LISA NININGER HALE, his daughter, will assume his role as President of the company.
