The LOS ANGELES RAMS have announced the team's broadcast crews for the 2016 season.
For English-language radio broadcasts on flagship ESPN Sports KSPN-A (ESPNLA 710AM)/LOS ANGELES and game simulcast partner ENTERCOM Classic Rock KSWD (100.3 THE SOUND)/LOS ANGELES, PAC-12 NETWORK play-by-play announcer J.B. LONG and former UCLA, JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS and OAKLAND RAIDERS running back MAURICE JONES-DREW will call the game action with D'MARCO FARR, the former RAMS player and radio analyst for the past seven years in ST. LOUIS, handling the sidelines. KSPN's three-hour pre-game show will be hosted by the station's midday co-host STEVE MASON with former RAIDERS, JAGUARS, and BUFFALO BILLS linebacker KIRK MORRISON and NFL NETWORK commentator and former NFL cornerback ERIC DAVIS; KSPN morning co-host TRAVIS RODGERS will host the two-hour post-game show and JEFF BIGGS will report at halftime.
On Spanish-language flagship LOTUS Spanish Sports KWKW-A (ESPN DEPORTES 1330)/LOS ANGELES, NBC O&O KNBC-TV (NBC 4)/LOS ANGELES weekend sports anchor MARIO SOLIS and FOX DEPORTES broadcaster TROY SANTIAGO will call the games.
“We are excited for these two dynamic teams – J.B., MAURICE and D’MARCO on ESPNLA and MARIO and TROY on ESPN DEPORTES – to bring our games to fans across the region in our first season back in LOS ANGELES,” said RAMS COO KEVIN DEMOFF. “All of these announcers combine unique experience, passion for the game and ties to SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, which will help connect our fans to RAMS football during this historic year.”
“We could not be more thrilled about the broadcast team who will be bringing RAMS games to life for listeners in SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA and beyond,” said KSPN VP/GM SCOTT MCCARTHY . “J.B., MAURICE, and D’MARCO are experienced and outstanding play-by-play broadcasters, and they are the perfect on-air team to help welcome the RAMS back to LOS ANGELES. We look forward to hearing them on ESPNLA 710, during RAMS games and also during the week.”
"To be invited to join the RAMS at this moment in their history is a privilege I wasn't capable of imagining,” said LONG. “My family and I are honored and humbled by this opportunity to be a part of their homecoming in LOS ANGELES. The RAMS are building something special in LOS ANGELES: the NFL's preeminent stadium, an organization of talented and motivated people, plus one of the league's youngest and most promising rosters. I cannot wait to be a conduit between all the RAMS future success and a community of fans that will soon be recognized as the best in the NFL."
"The RAMS returning to LOS ANGELES is the biggest story right now in SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. As a former player, and now a member of the media, I'm excited to be a part of this next chapter in NFL history,” said JONES-DREW.
“I'm very excited to begin my eighth season with the RAMS Broadcasting Network,” said FARR. “I feel very blessed to return to LOS ANGELES as a member of the broadcast team after leaving with the team as a player over 20 years ago. I'm looking forward to a successful season of RAMS football.”
"As a native Angelino, I grew up watching and loving the RAMS. Calling the team’s Spanish radio play-by-play on ESPN DEPORTES is an incredible honor," said SOLIS.
"I was a huge RAMS fan as a kid and now to be on the Spanish broadcast team is a dream come true,” said SANTIAGO. “Nothing in broadcasting could compare to calling the games of the LOS ANGELES RAMS."
"MARIO SOLIS and TROY SANTIAGO are admired by the Latino sports enthusiasts for their professionalism and the profound emotion which they bring to each and every broadcast,” said KWKW Dir, of Programming JUAN RODRIGUEZ.
Farr Leaves WXOS (101ESPN)/St. Louis For The Rams Opportunity
As reported earlier, FARR is staying with the RAMS but leaving the team's former flagship in ST. LOUIS, HUBBARD Sports WXOS (101ESPN)/ST. LOUIS, where he served as afternoon "THE FAST LANE" co-host.
With FARR exiting, RANDY KARRAKER and BRAD THOMPSON need a new "FAST LANE" co-host. PD CHRIS "HOSS" NEUPERT said, “101 ESPN is looking for hardworking and well-informed on-air teammates who can help the show continue to succeed and grow. The perfect candidate is a highly entertaining and stand out on-air talent who has a real passion for all sports. This talent candidate should also be a great team player who will mesh well with our current co-hosts RANDY KARRAKER and BRAD THOMPSON. And of course, we want a dynamic individual who will be invested in our station, who will care and interact well with our listeners, and can immediately grab the attention of ST. LOUIS’ sports fans.”
VP/Market Manager JOHN KIJOWSKI added, “101ESPN is the sports leader in ST. LOUIS radio, and we intend to stay number one. The chance to join the highly-rated team on THE FAST LANE is one-of-a-kind opportunity for the right person – we want a sports talk leader with a passion and edge to take THE FAST LANE even higher in the ratings.”
