AMERICAN PUBLIC MEDIA's APM REPORTS and THE WASHINGTON POST are collecting entries for their upcoming podcast series "HISTORICALLY BLACK." The eight-part series, debuting SEPTEMBER 19th, is based on the POST's "HISTORICALLY BLACK" Tumblr and is seeking photos and stories of objects that would help tell stories of African-American history, in the vein of the Tumblr's "people's museum" format, which has included posts including a black Santa CHRISTMAS tree topper belonging to a mixed race family, a photo of a poster's grandmother working for NASA predecessor NACA in the 1940s, and more.
Entries for podcast consideration are due by Noon (ET) SEPTEMBER 1st; any entries coming in after that will be considered for the Tumblr. All entries must be submitted online to historicallyblack.tumblr.com/submit and must include entrants' name, email address, a photo if available (entrants must have all rights to the photos and are granting the POST permission to use it on any platform), and the story behind the object being submitted.
