The controversial proposed deal for the SEGUIN INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT in SEGUIN, TX to take over Country KWED-A/SEGUIN, the SEGUIN DAILY NEWS, and SEGUINTODAY.COM from GUADALUPE MEDIA (NET NEWS 8/19) has been shot down, with the SEGUIN GAZETTE reporting that GUADALUPE MEDIA has opted out of the negotiations.
The school board voted 6-1 last THURSDAY (8/18) to authorize Superintendent STETSON ROANE to negotiate the take over of the local media cluster, with a proposal involving a five-year lease at $6,250/month or $75,000/year and an option to buy at the end of the lease without additional payment. The deal was met with significant public opposition.
