CBS RADIO/LAS VEGAS has launched 98.5 DA SHAKA, VEGAS’ Island and Reggae station on 98.5 KLUC’s HD-2 frequency, programmed by CBS RADIO/LAS VEGAS OM JB KING and YUNG JON QUE (JON QUIAMZON), the latter a veteran of multiple Hawaiian radio stations. Listeners can also stream the new station through RADIO.COM or the RADIO.COM app for mobile devices. Just click here.
98.5 DA SHAKA will serve the Hawaiian and Island community of LAS VEGAS, long considered the Ninth Island by the Hawaiian community, with current island music such as COMMON KINGS, ANUHEA and J BOOG to current reggae hits from REBEL SOULJAHS and KATCHAFIRE, and even traditional island songs from KEALI’I REICHEL and IZ. The new station will also participate in concerts and cultural events integral associated with the Hawaiian and Island community.
“It is very exciting to offer an HD format and stream via RADIO.COM for the LAS VEGAS Hawaiian and Island community, which has been steadily growing in VEGAS for well over two decades," KING said. "‘98.5 DA SHAKA’ will feature a mix of traditional and contemporary Hawaiian music. I am very fortunate to have a few guys on my team here in VEGAS who were born and raised in HAWAII, who have passionately spearheaded turning on ’98.5 DA SHAKA.’ YUNG JON QUE (JON QUIAMZON) has taken the lead on setting up the music library, rotations and creating the overall sound and vibe of ’98.5 DA SHAKA.' Also, JOHN JAMES has added his imaging talents to make the station as authentic as possible.”
"The station is unlike any other offering in the market," SVP/Market Manager TONY PERLONGO said. "It brings the music of the islands to LAS VEGAS and will cater to those looking for a station that soothes and relaxes just like the islands.”
