Nielsen: President Obama's Spotify Summer Playlist Spurs Streaming Activity

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA is now helping the record industry.
The Chief Exec's SUMMER playlist, which he dropped to SPOTIFY on AUGUST 11th, spurred streaming increases on a number of titles.
LIZZ WRIGHT's "Lean In," led the way with a whopping 649.1% increase, according to NIELSEN tallies for the week ending AUGUST 18th.
That was followed by ESPERANZA SPALDING's "Espera" (+460.2%), CARMEN McCRAE's "Midnight Sun" (+410.7%), DENISE LaSALLE's "Trapped By A Thing Called Love" (+311.4%), CAETANO VELOSO's "Cucurrucucu Paloma" (+295.6%), MILES DAVIS' "My Funny Valentine" (+182.9%), LEDISI's "Alright" (+137.8%), BILLIE HOLIDAY's "Lover Man" (+133.3%), CHARLES MINGUS' "II B.S." (+123%) and GIN WIGMORE's "Man Like That" (+105.7%).
The track that attracted the most streams overall was JIDENNA f/ROMAN GIANARTHUR's "Classic Man," with 1,2809,000 streams, though that represented a less than 1% increase.
