CAPITOL BROADCASTING Sports WCMC (99.9 THE FAN)/RALEIGH-DURHAM is airing a “FAN Town Hall” special on race relations in sports on TUESDAY night (8/30). The show will feature a panel discussing the question, “Do today’s African-American Athletes bear any responsibility to commenting on today’s social issues?” The show will air live on THE FAN, WRAL-TV-DT2 (channel 5.2), WRALSPORTSFAN.com, and via the WRALSPORTSFAN app and WRAL apps for ROKU, AMAZON Fire, and APPLE TV.
Moderator NBC affiliate WRAL-TV Anchor/Reporter GERALD OWENS said, “As fans we cherish, even worship, our favorite athletes on the court or on the field. Rarely do we hear their personal beliefs on the big social issues facing our society. This forum will allow us to discuss that.”
Sports Radio OM/PD and FAN Town Hall Executive Producer DENNIS GLASGOW added, “This discussion is long overdue, and we have a diverse and opinionated panel to tackle this polarizing topic. I’m also excited that our viewers and listeners can participate with their feedback and commentary in real-time via Twitter.”
