BMLG RECORDS and its award-winning duo FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE (FGL) celebrated the release of “Dig Your Roots” last NIGHT (8/29) on historic ELLIS ISLAND in UPPER NEW YORK BAY, a unique and fitting location to mark the pair’s third album, which hit the streets last FRIDAY (8/26).
While attendees noshed in the GRAND HALL of the ISLAND’s main building, a U.S. FOREST RANGER provided some historical perspective on what is now a NATIONAL PARK, pointing out that more than 12 million immigrants were processed at ELLIS ISLAND between its 1890 opening and 1924. As a result, 40% of AMERICANS have some personal family tie to ELLIS ISLAND. BMLG Pres./CEO SCOTT BORCHETTA shared some numbers of his own, as he presented FGL’s TYLER HUBBARD and BRIAN KELLEY with matching plaques commemorating one million digital downloads of “H.O.L.Y.," the lead single from “Dig Your Roots,” which recently topped the MEDIABASE Country singles chart (NET NEWS 7/25).
HUBBARD and KELLEY then introduced the video for “May We All,” their follow up single – which, like the song – featured a guest performance from TIM MCGRAW. Not shockingly, the video – more of a mini-movie, actually – sports a car-racing theme. During an exclusive Q&A discussing “Dig Your Roots,” HUBBARD told ALL ACCESS he and KELLEY strive to, “Always be real, transparent, vulnerable, and pick the best songs. Lots of songs come in for consideration, and we’ve had the motto of ‘better is better.'” KELLEY added that both he and HUBBARD do feel a responsibility to deliver strong music and results with this release, going a bit wider with him taking more lead vocals than previously, and adding collaborations with artists including MCGRAW, ZIGGY MARLEY, and the BACKSTREET BOYS. “Those were based on digging our roots,” added HUBBARD. “It was a blessing to be singing with people we grew up with and who have influenced our music.”
