Legendary Fiddle Player Hoot Hester Dies At 65

Condolences to family, friends, and colleagues of legendary fiddle player HUBERT DWANE "HOOT" HESTER who passed away YESTERDAY (8/30) after a year-long battle with cancer. He was 65.
HESTER played on records for artists ranging from BILL MONROE and EARL SCRUGGS to RANDY TRAVIS and ALABAMA. He also served as the in-house multi-instrumentalist on the TNN-TV series "NASHVILLE Now" hosted by RALPH EMERY. HESTER is survived by his wife, LOLA, and three children. Visitation will be held at FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH in DICKSON, TN on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 2nd from 1p until 5p (CT). Additional visitation times will be on SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 3rd from 9a until 11a (CT) with funeral services immediately following. FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH is located at 2501 Highway 70, DICKSON, TN 37055.
