KXOJ (100.9 FM)/Tulsa Flips To 'Totally Awesome '80s'

STEPHENS MEDIA GROUP has flipped former Contemporary Christian KXOJ/TULSA at 100.9 FM to Classic Hits TOTALLY AWESOME '80s.

Commented : “Tapping into format passion and offering an audience a radio station that plays great music, while building community with the listeners, is what today’s radio is all about," STEPHENS MEDIA GROUP owner DAVID STEPHENS said. "100.9 FM TOTALLY AWESOME '80s reminds you about what you liked most about growing up.”

The station launched playing 1,980 songs in a row commercial free and has plans to feature locally known on-air talent.

"The '80s were a nostalgic decade full of iconic songs and fond memories," PD BOB THORNTON said. "The quality, variety and originality of music in the '80s was unmatched and has
remained one of the most listened to decades of music among all age groups. I dare you not to smile when listening to 100.9 TOTALLY AWESOME '80s!"

The 100.9FM frequency became available when KXOJ moved down the dial to 94.1 FM.
A multi-media advertising campaign is planned to support the launch.
