DUKE UNIVERSITY baseball, volleyball, and men's soccer radio voice CHRIS EDWARDS has been named the new DUKE women's basketball play-by-play announcer by the school and rights holder IMG, replacing STEVE BARNES and MORGAN PATRICK. EDWARDS will continue to call baseball and host the weekly DUKE Baseball Show, and will also continue his work with TIME WARNER CABLE and his Director of Broadcasting position with the SUMMER wooden-bat collegiate baseball COASTAL PLAIN LEAGUE.
“First, let me say how honored I am to receive this assignment from IMG,” said EDWARDS in a press release. “I would like to thank PAT STREKO from DUKE IMG and Coach MCCALLIE for entrusting me with the broadcasts for the upcoming season. I’m thrilled for the opportunity to work with such a storied program like DUKE women’s basketball and cannot wait to get to work with the team in just a couple of months. I look forward to engaging with all the DUKE women’s basketball fans and calling a bunch of BLUE DEVIL victories this winter.”
"We are excited to welcome CHRIS to the DWB family,” said head coach JOANNE P. MCCALLIE. “His enthusiasm and dedication to all sports is very impressive. We look forward to having him continue to grow our coverage and spread great energy to DUKE fans across the country."
"We are excited to have CHRIS EDWARDS join our radio broadcasts as the new voice of DUKE women's basketball,” said BLUE DEVIL IMG SPORTS MARKETING GM PAT STREKO. “The combination of CHRIS' experience on radio, television and at DUKE made him a very attractive candidate from the very start. Our fans will certainly enjoy his knowledge of the game, his passion for DUKE and the excitement he brings to our broadcasts."
