The tech world has been buzzing about the iPHONE 7 -- and much of that chatter centers around something it doesn't have. A headphone jack. But it took Consultant RANDY KABRICH to find the impact on radio in that decision, and he took to his blog last night, writing, "It's a given in this election cycle, when any Republican spoke about HILLARY CLINTON, it was about her emails. For months, when anyone in Radio spoke about the iPHONE 7 and the elimination of a 3.5mm 'Earbud' jack, it's always about reception issues for NEXTRADIO and a FM Chip that does not exist in an APPLE iPHONE. Let's be honest. A FM chip is the furthest thing on APPLE’s mind. After the iPHONE 7 reveal on WEDNESDAY, Broadcasters discussed if this would 'kill NEXTRADIO.' They point out if SAMSUNG and other ANDROID devices take this route, NEXTRADIO is in trouble down the road."
KABRICH notes, "In HILLARY’s case, BERNIE SANDERS finally said, 'The American people are sick and tired of hearing about your damn emails,' (though that is debatable). In regards to the iPHONE 7 missing Headphone Jack, I am saying, 'I am sick and tired of hearing about the iPHONE 7 and that Damn Headphone Jack that may or may not cause an issue for NEXTRADIO in 2017, 2018 or beyond. What I want to know is why Broadcasters aren’t talking about the real issue that starts next FRIDAY with the sale of the first iPHONE 7?”
"What problem? KABRICH asks. "Well, sometimes a picture is worth a 1,000 words. "As a Public Service to the Industry, I’d like to help explain to PPM Respondents who are purchasing a new iPHONE 7 or 7+ how to wire up a PPM to your new Smartphone that has no Headphone Jack."
"Last but not least, make sure all 4 connectors are tight – especially the non-locking mini-usb PPM Adapter to the actual PPM. The last thing you want is for that to slide loose after wiring this whole thing up! quips KABRICH. "And just think, with that much wiring, NEXTRADIO will NEVER have a FM Reception Issue!"
