BILL NOJAY, a NEW YORK State Assemblyman and host of a daily talk show on RADIO LIVINGSTON News-Talk WYSL-A-W221CL/AVON-ROCHESTER, NY, died FRIDAY (9/9) of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound at a cemetery in ROCHESTER. NOJAY, 59. a Republican legislator who was running in the primary election TOMORROW (9/13), was due in court later FRIDAY in a case involving his legal practice and the administration of a trust fund.
A statement from WYSL Pres./CEO BOB SAVAGE said, "As wordsmiths and observers on the news of the day we are accustomed to finding the right phrases, the appropriate descriptors, in conveying fact and emotion to help our listening audience understand whatever may impact their lives. The sudden death of our great friend BILL NOJAY utterly vacates every one of these resources. We are overwhelmed with incomprehension, confusion and emotions assailing us from all sides.
"The loss of BILL NOJAY impacts us, his beloved family, his business, law and political colleagues – as well as his tens of thousands of constituents – in ways which will only become known over the passage of coming days, weeks and months. One thing, and one thing only is evident: BILL’s departure is an unfathomable tragedy, a waste of monumental talent, conviction and patriotism which will leave a vacuum far more than nature will abhor.
"Please join me in prayer for BILL’s family in this time of overwhelming loss. We will comment further when appropriate. Thank you for your understanding."
