When the regular season ends, so will VIN SCULLY's 67-season reign as voice of the LOS ANGELES DODGERS, the Hall of Fame broadcaster told the LOS ANGELES TIMES' BILL SHAKIN for an article posted TODAY (9/13). SCULLY said that he will not call DODGERS playoff games on iHEARTMEDIA/DODGERS Sports KLAC-A (AM 570 LA SPORTS)/LOS ANGELES, preferring to end his career with the final regular season games, finishing up at home on SEPTEMBER 25th when the DODGERS play COLORADO, then a finale on OCTOBER 2nd in SAN FRANCISCO for the final regular season game of 2016.
"I’m going to say goodbye at DODGER STADIUM the last game with COLORADO. I will say goodbye in SAN FRANCISCO. And then that will be it," SCULLY said, adding, "Otherwise, I’d be saying goodbye like in grand opera, where you say goodbye 12 different times." SCULLY's play-by-play airs for the first three innings on both KLAC and TIME WARNER CABLE SPORTSNET LA, then exclusively on television for the rest of the game. Due to the carriage dispute between TIME WARNER/CHARTER and other cable and satellite systems in the market, the final six games -- the COLORADO and SAN FRANCISCO series -- will be simulcasted on TRIBUNE MEDIA CW affiliate KTLA (TV).
