METV has launched its METV MUSIC streaming service on MeTV.com, a free companion showcasing "the best in timeless and memorable popular music."
Launched in association with ACCURADIO, METV MUSIC will be programmed with a library that is thousands of tracks deep, including top hits, hummable favorites and many songs that traditional music outlets have long forgotten about. METV MUSIC will allow listeners to log on from the MeTV.com homepage and enjoy music on their personal computer or laptop. Listeners can skip or pause songs, rate tracks and get detailed information on each song as it plays with limited commercial interruptions.
The wide collection of musical eras showcases artists such as BILLY JOEL, CAROLE KING, ARETHA FRANKLIN, ELTON JOHN, THE CARPENTERS, DIANA ROSS AND THE SUPREMES, SIMON & GARFUNKEL, CHICAGO, HALL AND OATES, THE FOUR SEASONS and THE EAGLES, among others, offering a broad playlist not based on over-researched corporate algorithms.
WEIGEL BROADCASTING Vice Chairman NEAL SABIN commented: “METV MUSIC brings back so many of the artists and songs that terrestrial radio has stopped playing because they ‘skew older’ or are unfamiliar to today’s program directors. Our CHICAGO METV FM station has proved there is an audience for this music with ‘hipsters, hippies, boomers and beyond.’ Now we are making a similar product available nationally via MeTV.com. The wow factor will hit you hard when you spend time with METV MUSIC.”
METV MUSIC is based on the successful launch and operation of WEIGEL BROADCASTING Oldies WRME-LP (87.7 METV FM)/CHICAGO, which debuted the format in MARCH, 2015. Since then, 87.7 METV FM has risen to among the top of CHICAGO radio stations in time spent listening and reaches 684,000 listeners a week in persons 6+. Responses have expressed appreciation and thanks for a thoughtful high-quality music format that brings back fond memories and encourages extended listening to discover what song will play next.
