BALTIMORE radio personality JOHNNY DARK, best known for 30 years at WCAO-A, died THURSDAY (9/15) at 82, HEARST News-Talk WBAL-A/BALTIMORE is reporting.
DARK, one of the more prominent radio personalities to use the common air name, was most recently a host on HILLTOP COMMUNICATIONS' Oldies WTTR-A/WESTMINSTER, MD from 2010 until JANUARY 4th of this year. In his WCAO days (1961-91, including Top 40 and Country formats), he was the DJ selected to introduce THE BEATLES at their 1964 BALTIMORE CIVIC CENTER concert. He came to WCAO in 1961 from WEAM-A/WASHINGTON, D.C. and later did weekends at Oldies WBIG-F (BIG 100.9)/WASHINGTON, D.C..
