CBS Chairman/Pres./CEO LESLIE MOONVES told the MERRILL LYNCH Media, Communications, and Entertainment Conference in NEW YORK on THURSDAY (9/15) that there have been "a number of inquiries and a number of explorations" regarding CBS CORP.'s radio division and that "one way or another we are going to come out very well for it."
MOONVES, whose talk primarily focused on television (and denying that a reunification with VIACOM is in the works), said that the interest in the radio operations has come from private equity, other radio companies, and "international groups," and that a sale or merger has not been taken off the table despite moves towards a spinoff and IPO; either way, he said, "There will be a chunk of cash."
