The Living Legends Foundation Puts Finishing Touches On 25th Anniversary Gala

The LIVING LEGENDS FOUNDATION (LLF) has put the final touches to this years annual event which will also be the organizations 25th Anniversary.  The 7p (PT) dinner and show will be held on THURSDAY OCTOBER 6th at the TAGLYAN CULTURAL COMPLEX in LOS ANGELES. Seven honorees will be celebrated this year.

LA'PORSHA RENAE, AMERICAN IDOL's final season runner-up and Jazz saxophonist ROB WHITE have been added to perform.  These performers will help round-out a show already highlighted by a performance from GUORDAN BANKS.  XHRM (MAGIC 92.5)/SAN DIEGO personality JAMMIN’ JAY MICHAELS will host.

In addition, to commemorate its 25th Anniversary, the FOUNDATION is launching an annual scholarship fund that will provide assistance for students from three Historically Black Colleges and Universities; SHAW UNIVERSITY in RALEIGH, NC, TEXAS SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY in HOUSTON, TX, and HOWARD UNIVERSITY in WASHINGTON, D.C.

LLF Chairman DAVID LINTON said, “This has been a goal of the foundation for some time.  And the 25th anniversary seemed an appropriate time.  This is another way to give back and support students interested in pursuing careers in communications, radio and television.”

MOTOWN’s LA PORSHA RENAE’s song BATTLES served as the theme song for the U.S. women's gymnastics team at this years OLYMPICS.  By the time saxophonist ROB WHITE joined his high school band, he had mastered the violin, the soprano, alto and tenor sax, and the flute.  GUORDAN BANKS’s song KEEP YOU IN MIND, recently claimed the #1 spot on the Urban AC charts.

The Honorary Event Chairpersons for this year's Awards Dinner and Gala are Founder of ATOM FACTORY/ SPOTIFY Global Head for Creative Services, TROY CARTER and BILLBOARD MAGAZINE Senior Correspondent, GAIL MITCHELL.  This year's Dinner Committee Chairperson is PAT SHIELDS, Partner at BLACK DOT, LLC and a LIVING LEGENDS Officer.
