The latest of many photographer lawsuits against radio broadcasters for copyright infringement is MATTHEW MCDERMOTT's suit against COX MEDIA GROUP, COX RADIO, and COX COMMUNICATIONS in NEW YORK Eastern District Court in CENTRAL ISLIP, LONG ISLAND.
The suit alleges that COX used a copyrighted photo of "DONALD the Pheasant," a pheasant that looks like DONALD TRUMP, on several of its radio and TV station and newspaper websites nationwide. MCDERMOTT seeks actual or $150,000-per-infringement statutory damages plus costs for the infringement and actual or $2,500-per-violation statutory damages for removing or altering the copyright information from the photo.
