Multiple news sources have reported that 56-year old singer/producer/songwriter KASHIF -- born MICHAEL JONES -- has passed. While little is known about the cause of death, the L. A COUNTY coroner implied that he died of natural causes. Reports say he was found dead at home YESTERDAY (9/26) by a neighbor.
KASHIF joined the group BT EXPRESS at age 15. He eventually became a solo artist and a creative force, working with many artists including WHITNEY HOUSTON, EVELYN “CHAMPAGNE” KING, HOWARD JOHNSON, ME’LISA MORGAN, KENNY G, GEORGE BENSON, BARRY WHITE, GLEN JONES, JOHNNY KEMP, DIONNE WARWICK, GIORGE PETTUS, STACY LATTISAW, FREDA PAYNE, and others.
He received GRAMMY nominations for the instrumentals "The Mood," "Call Me Tonight," "Edgartown Groove" featuring AL JARREAU, and "The Movie Song."
