As reported in ALL ACCESS (NET NEWS, 9/14), TIAS SCHUSTER will exit as PD at iHEARTMEDIA Top 40 WKGS/ROCHESTER and sister Top 40/Adult WDVI (THE DRIVE) to become SVPP for iHEART/NORFOLK, beginning SATURDAY (10/1). Today, the company revealed who will be replacing him, as well as announcing other operational changes.
JP HASTINGS will assume SCHUSTER's PD duties for WDVI as well as Adult Hits WMWX (MIX 103.3)/BINGHAMTON. HASTINGS will also continue in his currently position as PD of Adult Hits WYYY (Y94)/SYRACUSE.
In a memo to the staff, Area Pres./HARTFORD Region ROBERT MORGAN told the staff, "JP is uniquely qualified to oversee these market leading stations having spent the past 11½ years, as a key player both on the air and as a programmer for our ROCHESTER cluster. He is strategic, smart and disciplined. JP will stepdown as the daily co-anchor of the WHAM MORNING NEWS to focus on his expanded programming responsibilities but will remain a contributor to our award winning news effort. BILL MORAN has been selected to join TODD HALLIDAY as the new co-anchor of the WHAM MORNING NEWS while also continuing as cohost of DITULLIO AND MORAN on RADIO 95.1 (WAIO/ROCHESTER)."
Meanwhile, WKGS APD SCOTT BROOKS moves up to the PD position, replacing SCHUSTER there. BROOKS will continue as PD for sister AC WVOR (SUNNY 102.3) and serve as Digital PD for the ROCHESTER cluster. MORGAN continued, "For over six years, SCOTT has been the quintessential go to guy in ROCHESTER and beyond. He got his start as an intern for the JOHN DITULLIO SHOW while at SUNY BROCKPORT and then in 2010 began his professional career producing the BROTHER WEASE SHOW. SCOTT’s work ethic, enthusiasm and play to win attitude quickly put him on the fast track and he has steadily grown in responsibility over the past several years."
