Condolences to family and friends of radio and TV veteran SID DOHERTY, who died SUNDAY (9/25) at 90.

The BROADCAST PIONEERS OF PHILADELPHIA. whose Hall of Fame inducted DOHERTY in 2013, place DOHERTY, best known for his work on radio and television in PHILADELPHIA and NEW YORK, in in BECKLEY, WV radio at the start of his career before stints in television at WLEX-TV/LEXINGTON and WLW-TV/CINCINNATI.  He first came to PHILADELPHIA at then-CBS O&O WCAU-TV, where he served as an anchor/reporter and host, then, after working at the old WNAC-TV/BOSTON, returned to PHILADELPHIA as announcer at independent WPHL-TV, memorably intoning "Phil-a-DEL-phi-a" in the station's legal ID.  He also worked for WIP-A, WWSH, and WPEN-A/PHILADELPHIA and WABC-A and WPLJ/NEW YORK as well as the ABC television network.  He had small parts in the movies "BLOW OUT" (as a police officer) and "THE HAPPENING" (as a radio announcer) and on soap operas "ALL MY CHILDREN" and "THE GUIDING LIGHT."

Visitation for family and friends will be on MONDAY (10/3) at 10a (ET) at  ST. JOHN NEUMANN CHURCH in BRYN MAWR, PA, followed by mass and a private interment.
