The TENNESSEAN reports that the SUN ENTERTAINMENT GROUP/NASHVILLE is suing the separately owned SUN STUDIOS/MEMPHIS for violating a 1991 agreement that governs the use of the famous brown and yellow label. SUN ENTERTAINMENT, started by SHELBY SINGLETON JR. after he purchased the company's assets from SAM PHILLIPS in 1969, states that the studio is trying to avoid paying licensing fees by using a label that is almost identical to the original. The suit also contends that the studio's website streams music recorded by SUN artists, implying a connection to master recordings actually owned by SUN ENTERTAINMENT. To read more just click here.
