Former GREATER MEDIA Sports WPEN (97.5 THE FANATIC)/PHILADELPHIA evening host JOE DECAMARA was rumored at the time he left that station (NET NEWS 10/12) to be joining WPEN's rival, CBS RADIO Sports WIP, and indeed WIP has announced that DECAMARA and former EAGLES fullback JON RITCHIE will co-host middays 10a-2p (ET) beginning MONDAY (10/24). DECAMARA and RITCHIE replace MICHAEL BARKANN and IKE REESE; REESE, another former EAGLE, will move to be part of the new WIP afternoon show, which will be announced in coming weeks and will fill the gap left by the firing of JOSH INNES, now at iHEARTMEDIA Sports KBME-A (SPORTSTALK 790)/HOUSTON.
"We are thrilled to add this new show featuring JOE and JON,” said CBS RADIO SVP/Market Manager DAVID YADGAROFF. “As a player, JON RITCHIE embodied the hard-working nature of our fine city. As a host, he will connect with the fans and share their passion for our local teams. JOE has proven himself to be a strong voice for the PHILADELPHIA fans. We are excited to have them.”
DECAMARA said, “I'm extremely excited to join WIP and CBS RADIO. With JON's background as an EAGLES player and talk show host paired with my on-air experience and passion for the PHILADELPHIA sports teams from as far back as I can remember, we’ll provide an entertaining show while connecting with the audience. I look forward to MONDAY morning when JON and I can get started.”
RITCHIE, who also serves as analyst for DIRECTV's FANTASY ZONE channel on SUNDAYS during the NFL season, said “WIP defines sports radio to me, and PHILADELPHIA defines passion. I'm foaming at the mouth because this is a gigantic opportunity to drop truth-bombs on a savvy fan base who appreciates brutal honesty.”
