"I think it's a real eye-opening experience for guys that come from radio to this side of the business. I don't think some of them realize how difficult the job is, because it's hard to get a hold of people. It's hard to build relationships, especially since programmers are being spread so thin now ... plus all the behind the scenes work that goes into it: analyzing the chart, the pressure that's put on the regionals for getting airplay, the spin policing, the 'we have to keep this record top 40' pressure, etc. I think that's all something they don't see behind the scenes."
