President OBAMA has announced the nomination of Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs RICHARD STENGEL as Chairman and board member of the BROADCASTING BOARD OF GOVERNORS, which oversees the VOICE OF AMERICA and other U.S. government-backed international broadcasting entities.
STENGEL is the former Managing Editor of TIME magazine and President/CEO of the NATIONAL CONSTITUTION CENTER in PHILADELPHIA. The longtime journalist also co-wrote NELSON MANDELA's autobiography "Long Walk to Freedom." His nomination was announced FRIDAY (10/21) among a total of nine nominations to various boards and committees.
