SiriusXM Traffic And Weather Channels Go To 'Currently Unavailable' Loop

What's going on with SIRIUSXM RADIO's traffic and weather channels? The channels, which have been offered since the inception of both SIRIUS and XM, have gone to a loop of the message "This content is currently unavailable," but the channels remain on the dial; consumers are being told by customer care that the channels are unavailable "at this moment" and "we do not have an expected return date at this time." One response indicated that technical issues were not involved but that "We will update you whether it is a confirmed decision or not within the next few weeks."

The "SIRIUSXM First Traffic and Weather" channels have been consolidated over the years, with disparate and distant locations combined on single channels and only NEW YORK retaining a solo channel; the other channels combine BOSTON, PHILADELPHIA, ATLANTA and PITTSBURGH; WASHINGTON, BALTIMORE, MIAMI, and ORLANDO; CHICAGO and DETROIT; DALLAS, HOUSTON, ST. LOUIS, and MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL; SAN FRANCISCO, SEATTLE, PHOENIX, and TAMPA-ST. PETERSBURG; and LOS ANGELES and SAN DIEGO.

ALL ACCESS has requested comment from SIRIUSXM on the matter and is awaiting response.  The channels are separate from and unrelated to SIRIUSXM's traffic and weather data services.
